| Distribution: This species is found in Brunei, Indonesia and Malaysia. It is locally common on Borneo but is rare and restricted in its Sumatran range. |
| Habitat: It is generally found in tropical or sub-tropical moist lowland forests and swamps. |
| Characteristics: It measures approximately 20cm in length. It has mid-brown upperparts and a distinctive face pattern, with whitish supercilium, a black eye stripe and grey cheeks. As it's name suggests, it has a strong hook-tipped bill. |
| Ecology: The Hook-billed Bulbul has been recorded feeding on fruits, berries and small invertebrates such as beetles, dragonflies and spiders. |
| Threats: This species is vulnerable because it is confined to low-lying forest in a region where there has been a catastrophic clearance of this habitat type. |
